Dr Catherine Kelaher

Presentation title: Occupational medicine and COVID-19: Contribution to the pandemic response

Bio:

Dr Catherine Kelaher is a fellow of the Australian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and also the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Catherine worked with the Commonwealth Department of Health during the first two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Catherine was the only Occupational and Environmental Physician at Commonwealth Health and attended AHPPC and sub-committees and worked to inform a risk based approach to the management of risk related to SARS-CoV-2 across Health and more broadly in industry. Catherine is now at Defence as Senior Occupational and Environmental Physician working to optimise the health and well being of Australia’s Defence Force members.

Dr Paul J Nicholson

Presentation title: Occupational health and wellbeing: evidence and opportunities

Summary: A review of the needs, quality, limitations, myths and opportunities of the field of evidence relating to occupational health care and workplace wellbeing programmes.

Bio:

Paul gained the MRCGP, AFOM and DAvMed in the RAF and the MFOM with ICI. While working as Associate Medical Director for P&G he was awarded FFOM, FRCP, OBE and Fellow of the BMA. He was Honorary Assistant Editor of Occupational Medicine, President of the Society of Occupational Medicine and Chair of the BMA Occupational Medicine Committee. He served the FOM as an elected board member and clinical lead to develop the SEQOHS standards and accreditation scheme.  He has authored a more than 160 publications; including systematic reviews (occupational asthma and occupational contact dermatitis) and the SOM’s Occupational health; the value proposition.
