Healthcare professionals are at greater risk of burnout than most other employee groups. This webinar aims to provide an overview of the occupational, organisational and individual causes of burnout and its implications for health, withdrawal behaviours and job performance. Holistic approaches to tackling burnout at the individual, team and organisational level will be considered. Participants will gain an understanding of the following issues:

What is burnout?

How burnout can manifest itself

The occupational, organisational and individual risk factors for burnout

The impact of burnout on health, retention and job performance

How burnout can be identified and managed from a multi-level perspective.

Gail Kinman is Professor of Occupational Health Psychology at the University of Bedfordshire. She is a Chartered Psychologist and a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and the Academy of Social Sciences. Gail has published widely in the field of occupational health psychology, with a particular focus on the wellbeing of people who work in emotionally demanding professions. For the past 10 years, Gail has been developing a systemic approach to enhancing emotional resilience in health and social care staff.
