Theory and practice of leading change: what has worked and what has not

Registration is closed for this event

FREE for ALL (please log in on the SOM website first).

Summary:

In this exclusive SOM Leadership webinar, Dr Cain will explore successes and failures in change programs that he has been involved in, and more recently led. These include integrated care modernisation, medical information systems and public health systems. He will draw on leadership theories, change management and personal development cross referenced with real examples. Ultimately, he will identify some key personal lessons that will hopefully help others shortcut the time and pain taken to learn them.

Speaker Bio:

Dr Paul Andrew Cain is a consultant in Occupational and Aviation Medicine.  Following mixed patient facing and management roles I began to focus entirely on leadership positions in the UK and deployed on operations, including running hospitals and trauma systems in complex environments.  My recent military focus has been on leading integrated healthcare services, including Occupational Medicine, Primary Care, Dental Care, Mental Health and rehabilitation before taking up the post of DG Operations at the newly formed UK Health Security Agency during COVID 19 and was the Strategic Response Director for the Commonwealth Games in 2022.  As part of this I have successfully led multi-million pound transformation programs delivering better organisational structure and more modern health IT systems that have benefited patients and staff.
