Summary:
This webinar continues our free-to-access series on "Basics in OH". The session will cover a basic introduction to the main vibration related disorders of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), carpal tunnel syndrome (v-CTS) and Dupuytren’s contracture; including definitions and measurement of hand transmitted vibration (HTV), at risk occupations tools and processes, symptoms and signs, investigations, classification and grading scales and workplace management.

Dr Ian Lawson
Ian was Chief Medical Officer for Rolls-Royce plc and expert witness in hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS) before retirement in 2020. A career long interest since 1987 in the clinical and legal aspects of HAVS and other vibration related disorders e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren’s contracture. Numerous papers published on HAVS in peer reviewed journals, 10th Edition of Hunter’s Diseases of Occupations, and 6th Edition of Fitness for Work. Past President of the Society of Occupational Medicine, a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health. Current Chair of SOM HAVS Special Interest Group and a member of the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council.
