Covid-age

Covid-age is an evidence-based tool that summarises vulnerability for COVID-19 taking into account multiple medical conditions, ethnicity, sex and BMI; using age as the standard because the risk relating to age is so much greater than that for any other factor. So, someone with a Covid-age of 35 will not be particularly vulnerable, while someone with a Covid-age of 85 will be very vulnerable. This approach will enable employers to plan for return to work and ensure employees are protected and supported appropriately while allowing those at lower vulnerability to work normally. The advantage of this approach is that stratification can be adjusted depending on COVID-19 prevalence. The tool can be found at http://alama.org.uk/covid-19-medical-risk-assessment/. There is an online calculator for Covid-age at https://alama.shinyapps.io/Covid_Age/
