SOM wishes to recruit a new trustee to join its nine-person board (six SOM members and three non-members) for an initial three-year term (maximum term of office is six years).
This is a non SOM member Trustee role but SOM is interested in someone with a commercial sector background and perhaps also with knowledge of investment and membership body issues. SOM is in good financial standing and has seen its membership grow year on year - see annual report here.
Trustees are responsible for ensuring SOM meets its charitable aims and legal obligations, working with the President [Chair of the Trustee] Board to set strategy.
Board members do not serve a geographic constituency, but the Board welcomes candidates from Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland. The Board holds quarterly two-hour meetings (for which travel is paid) with some discussions by email occurring between meetings. Interested?
