The Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) and the Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) are running the following one-day training course in York:

Management of Stress in the Workplace, 4th December 2018

Stress has been recognised by the HSE and many others as one of the biggest single causes of work-related sickness absence.  Its causes are multiple and, although non-work activities are undoubtedly important, there is a widespread belief that work factors can make a major contribution in some instances.

This course will briefly outline what we understand by stress; what factors at work (and outside) can contribute to it; and what the potential consequences are for the individual or an employer.  The presentation will then focus upon what is considered to be an appropriate course of action for employers, with primary prevention (prevention at source) coupled with both secondary and tertiary measures.  This will reflect what is currently recognised as best practice.

5.5 CPD points accredited by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM).

A discount is available for SOM members: £175 + VAT per person (for non SOM members, the price is £265 + VAT).  Please login to your SOM account and visit the Benefits and insurance page to access the promotional code.

Please note this is an open (public) course and may be subject to minimum numbers attending.  If you have any queries please email admin@som.org.uk
