University Hospital Southampton's large multidisciplinary occupational health and wellbeing service would like to welcome a new full-time Consultant Occupational Physician to their team.

They are planning for the future and looking to bring someone on board who will work towards taking on clinical leadership of Occupational Health in the not-too-distant future. You will work with their current Clinical Lead, who is well known within the field, to implement their OH strategy and respond to new developments.

Having won national awards for service innovation and quality improvement, University Hospital Southampton's team has a strong reputation. They have recently been named as Employee Wellbeing and Retention Employer of the year 2019 (Our Health Heroes Awards, sponsored by Skills for health and supported by NHS England, NHS Employers and Health Education England). This is a SEQOHS accredited service.

The work of the occupational health and wellbeing service is diverse and provides a full range of OH services to 11,500 Trust employees, 4,500 University employees, 4,000 healthcare students and a number of local employers through income-generating contracts.

The successful applicant would need to have a CCT in occupational medicine or be on the GMC’s Specialist Register. Alternatively, they will also consider candidates who are within six months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC.

Although the advertised post is full-time, University Hospital Southampton may be able to accommodate a range of part-time options and they are also willing to discuss a degree of flexibility about location. Therefore they would actively encourage applicants who wish to work part-time, or for whom geography might be a barrier. A relocation package would be available for the successful candidate if required.

Individuals wishing to apply must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and should be either already on or within 6 months of eligibility to be included on the specialist register of the GMC.
