Occupational Health Awareness Week (OHAW25) is this week - Monday 22nd to Sunday 28th September. The campaign shines a spotlight on the role of occupational health (OH) in improving workplace health, retention, and organisational performance. Do get involved!
The theme is “Occupational Health as a Strategic Partner to HR”. It highlights how OH supports not only HR, but also employers, managers, and employees across all sectors to build healthier, more resilient workplaces.
The results of a new YouGov survey of HR professionals, providing fresh insight into how OH is currently perceived and used within UK organisations, will also be released.
Throughout OHAW25, SOM will be hosting and sharing a wide range of activity, including:
- Tuesday 23rd September – Free webinar: Occupational Health – Supporting HR. A live session exploring how OH and HR can collaborate to strengthen wellbeing, reduce absence, and build resilient workplaces. Featuring Ben Willmott of CIPD and chaired by Dr Oli Chapman.
- Wednesday 24th September – Careers event: for nurses, allied health professionals, and doctors interested in a career in OH (register on our Events page). Two dedicated sessions for professionals considering a career in OH: a morning programme for nurses and AHPs, and an afternoon event for doctors, covering training pathways, career routes, and practical insight from experts.
- Friday 26th September – Free webinar: What is Occupational Health…ask the questions you were too scared to ask! A candid and insightful session for HR practitioners, tackling how OH supports wellbeing, compliance, retention, and culture. Featuring Dr Oli Chapman and chaired by Dr Lucy Wright.
- Friday 26th September – SOM 90th Anniversary Gala Dinner. SOM will be celebrating its 90th Anniversary at a special dinner in London.
Blogs, daily updates and resources offering practical guidance and perspectives on the value of OH will also occur.
