The week increases awareness of what occupational health (OH) is and the value it provides to workplace health.
This year the focus is on communicating that occupational health professionals are experts in work and health and encouraging people to use occupational health early.
SOM has produced free resources, including banners and posters, which you are welcome to download here. We also have videos which can be used to support the week here, including our ‘experts in work and health’ video here.

We will be publishing blogs throughout the week so check back here for updates. Topics will include occupational health as a workforce health ecosystem; mentoring; and egg freezing as an employee benefit.
OH Awareness Week also aims to encourage health professionals to consider OH as a career, to future-proof the profession. Last week we held a very well-attended Doctors Careers Afternoon, (recording and slides soon available on our Careers page), and this week we are holding a Nurses & AHPs Careers Morning, online Wednesday 23rd September (you can still register here).
We will also be opening the annual SOM Occupational Health Awards this week – so keep an eye on our Awards page for updates. This year we are excited to announce a new category: the SOM Early Career Award. The Awards showcase OH – demonstrating its value to organisations and the wider community. Do enter in one or more of our nine categories!
